About

Building open energy infrastructure.

WattStack pairs energy-sector experience with deep software and hardware engineering credibility. We are an early-stage UK startup, piloting now across heat pumps, thermal storage, and battery storage, with a public API built for flexibility providers and optimisers to integrate against, built upon open standards foundations.

What we are building.

An open stack for energy devices.

WattStack builds an open, standards-native stack of hardware and software that connects energy devices such as heat pumps, batteries, EV chargers, and thermal storage to consumers, fleet operators, and grid flexibility markets. Manufacturers can use the stack to ship compliant, connected devices without carrying the full development, connectivity, and security burden, while flexibility providers integrate once and reach many device types and manufacturers' fleets.

Our vision is an electrified energy system in which every energy device is simple for users to benefit from and grid-interactive through open standards, so growing electricity demand benefits device owners and strengthens the grid rather than straining it.

How we make money

Our commercial model.

Most of what we sell goes to the companies that make energy devices and the organisations that run fleets of them. They pay for our hardware products, like Edge, for access to the public API, and for the tooling and software their teams use to manage devices once deployed into homes.

The people who own the devices can pay us too, though nothing obliges them to. The WattStack App is free to use with an optional paid tier, and where a device earns from supporting the grid, we prefer that the value is shared between the owner, the flexibility provider, the manufacturer and us.
